Sunday August 3rd late p.m. 11ish???
We have been unable to get into the blog from our last hotel...it was locking up at the login.
I'm sure it wasn't user error...just so you know every computer we log into has different language settings...last one was czech...this one Middle Eastern?? weird squigglys on the key board....
Anyway, this is Norma and Moni is upstairs going to bed. Our ghost blogger was going to post for us on Friday but I don't see it on the site...
We are ending our days in Prague and meet our group tomorrow morning in the lobby for the start of our cycling adventure. Me...I will be very happy as my feet are worn raw from all this cobblestone street walking (I did say street walking).
This city is a photographers dream...stunningly beautiful....we are having a blast!!
So...on to my story...Last night I went to the Opera to see Mozart's 'Don Giovanni'. In case you are wondering I did go alone since this is not Moni's bag...no probs!
It was a chore worrying about whether or not I would have a ticket. I went online to buy this ticket last week. I gave them my cc information and when it came time to choose a delivery option...the normal choices weren't there. No will call...or theatre pick up? The choices were a)Vladimir will meet you in front of the theatre 30 mins before b) International mail c) Hotel delivery. I got nervous and clicked the button for contact information (expecting to see some ticketsRUs). Contact was Veronika Mlakova and gave me her home address. Unbelievable...
I never expected the tickets to arrive on Friday but they did with a personal note from Veronika. It is the new vay vhee do buziness here...do you zhee??
Nerds pay attention...all others tune out. Mozart himself premiered the opera 'Don Giovanni' here at the Estates Theatre in Prague in 1787. The movie 'Amadeus' was also filmed here. There is a sculpture in the front of the theatre of the ghost. It was amazing...there is one part where the ghost comes out and sings in a deep deep baritone 'Don Gioooovaaannnni" and then holds the note lower than you could possibly imagine. It reminds me of the Bugs Bunny cartoon where Bugs holds the glove lower and lower and the opera singer passes out. :P
I saw this opera about 10 years ago at the Ft. Worth Bass with my sister Ro. When they came to this part...I couldn't help but sing with him...'Don Giooovannniii". The Ft. Worth socialites gave me death looks from the opera box and I heard a few giggles too...oh wait that was Ro and I. LOL
I had my own little opera box and the lady came and let me in with a tiny key. It was amazing but the ghost had been modernized and had Vegas like fog and sound system :P
It still rocked...if i knew how to unload my camera into this hotel computer...I would.

I'm sure you will all hear about this so I'm getting my version in first. Friday night we went to the coolest Czech beer hall U Fleku ( yes...fu). You can find it in that tourist guide 1000 places to see before you die. Anyway, I'm sure you are surprised to know that I'm drinking lots of beer. Beer here is cheaper than water, coke, juice, or any other beverage.
I just love saying U Fleku, U Fleku, U Fleku, and I was driving Moni crazy with it. Just love the way it sounds fu, fu, fu...
This is a traditional beer hall and they keep bringing the beer, the guy is playing the tuba, another guy playing some accordian. People are singing (ok one drunk table), they are singing so sadly like they just got their last ration card and won't have bread or potatoes for along time.
I had lots of beers...it was fun and today began the drying out period for tomorrow's ride.
At the end of the day...I'm having more beer.
God I love vacation!
Norma
